Excited to announce our new print edition with Kevin Peterson. The original painting of “Commune” was featured in ‘Mist’, our recent solo exhibition with Peterson. A young boy and his best friend find warmth around a fire in an abandoned church. A striking example of Peterson’s oeuvre. The quality of the reproduction is second to none, once again handled by the master printers at Static Medium here in Los Angeles.

The Lancaster Museum of Art and History, in collaboration with Los Angeles' Thinkspace Projects, is pleased to present The New Vanguard III, a dynamic group exhibition of works by international artists working in the New Contemporary art movement. The highly anticipated follow up to 2018's successful second iteration of The New Vanguard, on view in tandem with this year's POW WOW! Antelope Valley will feature special solo projects by artists Kevin Peterson, Kayla Mahaffey, Kathy Ager and Alex Garant.

Thinkspace is pleased to present new works by Kevin Peterson in Sovereign, the artist’s third solo exhibition with the gallery. The Houston-based painter is known for his hyperrealistic works in which urban sprawls and rough city landscapes are offset by innocent subjects. Children and wild animals peacefully coexist as complicit companions in the detritus of stark urban environments. The poetic staging of these unexpected oppositions visually elicits powerful psychological themes. Recurring concepts continue to surface in Peterson’s work, like the perpetuity of change in self and environment, the navigation of personal trauma and loss, and solitude and the pursuit of companionship.

Opening Reception August 20, On veiw August 20th- September 10th.

Kevin Peterson awarded 35th Annual Hunting Art Prize

The Hunting Art Prize, which is sponsored by the international oil services company Hunting PLC, is a prestigious annual competition open to Texas artists who are 18 years of age or older. Its $50,000 award is historically the most generous annual award in North America for painting and drawing, and has helped to build the reputations, raise the profiles, and support the careers of distinguished artists.
